Online Med School Makes Sense Today
November 12th, 2009 by Best
Going to medical school online was something that was frowned upon as recently as about five years ago. It wasn’t even an option fifteen years ago. Today, however, it is totally acceptable to go to an online medical school. What changed?
Some of the differences between now and then include:
- Advances in technology make online school much more hands-on than in the past. Online forums, chat programs, web conferencing, video features and other advances in computer technology make the online school experience much more interactive than in the past.
- Increase in the number of accredited online medical schools. You need to go to a good school. The fact that there are now so many more online medical programs that are accredited makes it much more acceptable for students to get their degrees this way.
- Increase in the variety of online medical programs. You can get a variety of degrees online now. For example, one med student might be looking at online physician assistant programs and another might be looking at online programs for occupational therapy work.
- General acceptance of online education. It’s more common now for people to get online degrees in all fields than it was just a scant few years ago.
So yes, online education for med students does make sense today. Now we can see why!
