The Game

Have you ever noticed that using your airline mileage points is a big game and only those who know how to play win the first class upgrades, the companion passes, and the free tickets?
Timeshare owners know exactly what I’m talking about. If you belong to a vacation ownership group, you had better know how to play the game and you better be prepared with all the rules otherwise you miss out on the location and the timeslot you want. In my particular timeshare, the earliest I can book a slot outside the particular location I purchased is eight months in advance. It took me a few failed attempts and missed years to learn that if I don’t call on the precise day and first thing in the morning at eight months in advance then I can kiss that desired slot goodbye.
As a parent of a college student, I am quickly learning that trying to reduce college costs is another game. The more I learn about the rules and how to play the game the better I am at being able to save on the cost of college. I don’t have it all figured out and plan to employ a certified college planning service to help me pave the road because, as I have already learned through the game of airline mileage and timeshares, the quicker I know how to play the faster I can win.
