Taking a Break After a Week of Cooking School
August 15th, 2009 by Career seeker
Man, I am so happy it is Saturday. I know for most people, the weekend really means nothing anymore, since a large number of people work during the weekend. But for me, I have been enjoying my weekends off since I returned to school to work on my culinary education.
I did face a lot of skepticism from my parents when I told them that I wanted to attend one of the most prestigious cooking schools in the country in hopes of attaining my dream of being a professional chef. My father was the worst as he had always wanted me to follow in his footsteps and be a plumber.
But my calling was cooking and for that I am truly grateful. There is just something magical when you see the delight on your customers faces when they take the first bite of your creation – you know that you have made their lives just a little bit better.
Even though I do enjoy school, I do enjoy the break that the weekend provides. It seems that I don’t have a free moment during the week, so when Saturday rolls around I usually let out a big sigh of relief.
Do you want to know my plans for the weekend? Well, that is easy: I am going to relax. Monday will be here too soon.
